In his report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping
highlighted the significance of coordinated efforts in carbon reduction, pollution control, green space expansion,
and growth promotion, advocating for a strategy that emphasizes ecological conservation, resource preservation, and
green, low-carbon development. This study uses bibliometric analysis and topic modeling to quantitatively examine
456 academic papers on carbon offsetting from 1995 to 2023. It employs statistical methods and programming software
to visually and statistically analyze the temporal distribution of literature, funding subject areas, and the scholars and
institutions involved. Utilizing the Latent Dirichlet Allocation model, the study analyzes the titles and keywords of
selected documents to identify current challenges in carbon offsetting research. It also explores theories, methods,
and strategies for future land use carbon offsetting, aiming to support the scientific and efficient development of
increasing carbon sinks and reducing emissions.
