AI technology is regarded as a key pathway to achieving smart management of archives, but there are many challenges, such as security, application scenarios, regulations, talent and effectiveness. By examining the f ive dimensions-“whether where or how it can be used” ,“who will use it”, and “what outcomes it can achieve” this study offers a critical reflection on the technological enthusiasm, aiming to provide practical guidance for constructing a sustainable path toward the intelligent development of archives.
