This article proposes a transformation pathway centered on the integrated approach of “space-resource
service” to address the value challenges faced by university libraries in the digital era. The study suggests that
the three constitute an interdependent, synergistically evolving organic ecosystem. Space serves as an enabling
domain, resources as intelligent content, and services as value connectors. It is necessary to systematically advance
their deep integration. Based on this philosophy, the study has established a phased implementation framework:
progressing from foundational infrastructure and physical integration, through data-driven and intelligent
convergence, to ultimately build a sustainable smart knowledge ecosystem. Tailored to the characteristics of private
universities, specific measures include strengthening top-level design, innovating resource allocation, and deepening
service innovation. This involves establishing cross-departmental coordination mechanisms, implementing an
“electronic resources first” strategy, and building an embedded disciplinary service system. In addition, using the
library of Wenhua University as a case study, this paper explores innovative practices in promoting the integrated
development of “space-resources-services” among private universities amid digital transformation. Finally, relevant
recommendations are proposed based on the above research.
