Innovation is a key driver of high-quality economic development. Based on SBM and Malmquist index, this paper evaluates China’s regional innovation efficiency. Results show overall improvement, but significant regional disparities, with the East leading. Technological progress drives TFP growth, while efficiency gains are limited. Policy suggestions include resource optimization, commercialization, regional coordination, and institutional improvement.
